Voices of Peace: Promoting Peaceful Coexistence through Digital Storytelling Funded by European Union through UNODC and NACTA

Project dates: 1st October 2024 – 31st July 2025

“Voices of Peace” is an initiative designed to promote peaceful coexistence by empowering local communities in Lahore and Multan. At its core, this project leverages the transformative power of citizen journalism, digital storytelling, intercultural dialogue, and inclusive peacebuilding. Through this project, IRC has been training community members on creating digital short films on the topics of resilience, empathy and peaceful coexistence within their communities. The project has included members from religious minorities and women for an inclusive, positive impact. The project also emphasizes intercultural dialogues through podcasts and community events. These activities aim to foster communication and understanding among different groups, promoting social cohesion. Additionally, the training sessions focus on peacebuilding and creating inclusive societies, ensuring that marginalized groups, particularly religious minorities and women, are actively engaged and empowered.

Project Objectives:

  • Fostering innovative approaches and initiatives to promote peacebuilding efforts within communities through citizen journalism and mobile filmmaking to create and disseminate positive narratives of peaceful coexistence.
  • Promoting and providing support for social cohesion, inclusivity, and resilience among communities.

Under this project, 20 short mobile films will be produced on the topics of peacebuilding, tolerance and counter extremism and the module of peacebuilding and citizen journalism has been developed.
